Comments:
I started going to Centennial with my Grandparents Walt and Mary when I was 3 or 4 years old, so 1958 or 1959. They had Thoroughbreds that raced there and later when I started working for my Grandfather as a waterboy he would pick me up around 5 am and we would head to Centennial before meeting his Concrete Flatwork Crews at Job sites. Many times after finishing my chores around the Horse Barns I could take the Exercise Quarter Horse Apache around the grounds and explore, so there were very few areas that I didn't see. During Racing Seasons, I got to go with Walt & Mary to their Box Seats in the Grandstand. In the video that you have on the Centennial Page, at 1 minute 42 seconds from the beginning is a Winner's Box photograph with Walt and Mary Flanagan, two Cousins and two Aunts, with the Jockey and their horse that won that race. They had horses in the Barns when the South Platte River flooded June 16, 1965. They lost some horses, and recovered some that were injured.
