Comments:
I went to this often backs in the late 60's and 70's. Never had much success though. I remember it used to open the season in N.J. in April and ran through memorial day when they shifted over to Monmouth, then A.C. and back to close the season at G.State. I believe it was 1971 in Nov. that I saw Numbered Account (2yr old filly) take on Riva Ridge who would win the derby in 1972. After it burned down, I went back when it was rebuilt. It reminded me of a mall. Like you said it died a very quick death. Now A.C. Racecourse is gone and the Meadowlands runs about 8 cards in Oct. on turf only, same as A.C. did before it died. Only real track left is Monmouth. I'm 64 and I think I might outlive it.
Love your site. I'm going to try and make it to some tracks I've never been. I guess I'm running out of time.
