I began studying the racing game in March of 1984. My brothers were gamblers & I went along. I got hooked on the excitement & the sport.

Almost every saturday, during the fall, were our famous "double headers." We went from Belmont afternoons to Roosevelt nights or to the Meadowlands, with New Park pizza dinner on the run.

Imagine, I can remember woody stephens making Belmont history with his 5 consecutive belmont winners and cool roosevelt nights at that pretty harness track only a few minutes away.

great memories, like John Henry winning the Ballantine scotch stakes, live forever, they never die....

Only went to Roosevelt once to bet a horse named P.A. Carlos. I remembered he ran out. My wife who I was dating back then went to Hofstra, just around the corner, ended up going to the track with friends before I ever got there. Very upsetting to me. Anyway, not being a harness fan, the night I went must have been in the early 70's. Don't remember much about the place except it was pretty big for a harness track.
